Sinister secrets await as Mary helps her girlfriend Marsha escape from her parent's gothic mansion, one dark and eldritch night. This hand drawn and digitally animated 'one shot' film takes us on a Lovecraftian escapade through the Manor of Madness. Our goal with this film was to combine the creeping horror of H. P. Lovecraft with the wacky action of classic Saturday morning cartoons.

H. P. Lovecraft meets Kraftwerk! Inspired by the H.P. Lovecraft story “The Music of Erich Zann“, Wattmarck follows German inventor and musician Karin Steckheim as she reassembles her band “Wattmarck“ for a final concert - to present a mysterious new synthesizer and the enigmatic sound it produces. Long time friend and musician, Anton Gsellmann, can’t simply forgive her that she sacrificed the band in order to research an apparently impossible sound, but curiosity drives him back to the factory – and the burning question: “What if she really discovered it?” Wattmarck tells its story on several layers, mixing documentary techniques with audio components, film-within-a-film as well as a hyper stylized filmic reality. This creates a dense atmosphere and an alternate history of electronic music, opening up a world that is expanded upon on the films website through videos, documents and pieces of audio.
