A look at how Lovecraft turned his inner demons into real monsters, thus leading the way for the horror monster tradition (everything from the Universal monster craze and the Atomic monsters of the 50s to Stephen King). How did his experiences in the early decades before WWII shape his opinions and, most importantly, his monster writing? How do our personal demons become global monsters?

Leslie S. Klinger is the New York Times-best-selling editor of the Edgar®-winning The New Annotated Sherlock Holmes, The New Annotated Dracula, and most recently, The New Annotated H. P. Lovecraft for Liveright/W. W. Norton, as well as the Bram Stoker Award®-nominated Annotated Sandman (Vertigo/DC Entertainment). He also co-edited, with Laurie R. King, the anthologies A Study in Sherlock (Random House) and In the Company of Sherlock Holmes (Pegasus Books). In October 2015, Pegasus will publish Klinger’s In the Company of Edgar Allan Poe: Classic Horror Fiction, 1816-1914. He is currently working on The New Annotated Frankenstein for Liveright, to be published in October 2017. Klinger serves as the Treasurer of the Horror Writers Association and practices law in Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife, dog, and 3 cats.

JEFF BURK is the cult favorite author of SHATNERQUAKE, SUPER GIANT MONSTER TIME, CRIPPLE WOLF, and SHATNERQUEST. Like the literary equivalent to a cult B-Horror movie, Burk writes violent, absurd, and funny stories about punks, monsters, gore, and trash culture. Everyone normally dies at the end. He is also the the Head Editor of ERASERHEAD PRESS’ horror imprint, DEADITE PRESS and the host of the JEFF ATTACKS podcast. Born in the Pennsylvania backwoods, he was raised on a steady diet of Godzilla, Star Trek, and EC Comics. He now resides in Portland, Oregon. His influences include: Sleep deprivation, comic books, drugs, magick, and kittens.

Andrew S. Fuller writes and edits horror, fantasy, and science fiction. His work appears in magazines On Spec, Crossed Genres, The Pedestal, anthologies FISH, Swords v Cthulhu, and several short films, including an HPLFF award-winner "Effulgence."
