Stan Ridgway of Wall of Voodoo

Stan Ridgway was the creative force behind the early '80s new wave group Wall of Voodoo. They had a #1 hit with "Mexican Radio," and were considered one of the best groups of that time. They performed live in the film "Urgh! A Music War." After 3 albums, the group broke up. Stan Ridgway (and the group's original drummer) still plays "live", has put out several solo CDs, and still sound great. Stan did the singing for the group and wrote most of the music and lyrics.

I met Stan in July when he played here in San Francisco. He's a great guy who is a fan of my writing. He likes sci-fi, and I spoke to him about coming to the festival. He seemed fairly interested. His wife, Pietra Wextun, is part of Stan's solo band now, plus she's got her own band, Hecate's Children.

I think it would be great to have them play the festival next year. They're interested! We can all sit around "eating barbequed iguana" as the song says!

Check out Wall of Voodoo and Stan's music and videos on Myspace (stanridgway or officialstanridgway) and on Youtube. There's also a DVD and many CDs.
