short
This animated adaptation of the one-shot comic from Hellboy's Mike Mignola follows the adventures of a steampunk secret agent for Abraham Lincoln who, indeed, possesses a robotic screw-on head. Originally aired as the pilot for a possible TV series, this stand-alone episode pits the Amazing Screw-On Head against the treacherous Emperor Zombie, his batty vampiric lover, a lycanthropic granny, and a gunslinging chimp. From the back rooms of Marrakesh to the banks of the Mississippi, the Screw-On Head pursues Emperor Zombie to prevent the resurrection of an ancient supernatural warlord.
Loosely based on the short story by M.R. James - previously adapted for film in Jacques Tourner's classic Night of the Demon - was adapted for television by BAFTA-nominated playwright Clive Exton, and directed by Lawrence Gordon Clark, who also helmed the "Ghost Story for Christmas" series. When a TV series devoted to debunking mediums and mystics lampoons infamous demonologist Julian Karswell (played with exquisite menace by Iain Cuthbertson), its producer (Jan Francis) and cast soon find themselves threatened by mysterious, malevolent forces.

Lovecraft.
