Andrew Leman’s interest in the works and worlds of H. P. Lovecraft was first kindled by Sean Branney during their high school years, and that interest has grown into an ongoing 26-year creative partnership. Starting with their own high-intensity brand of live-action role-playing games, their efforts have expanded into music, film, radio drama, historical writing, and vintage document replicas. Aaron Vanek was one of the first three filmmakers to screen a Lovecraft movie at the HPLFF in 1995. Since then, he has attended every festival but two, and made four other Lovecraftian adaptations, including Return to Innsmouth and Chambers' The Yellow Sign, both of which are distributed by Lurker Films. He is a proud recipient of a "Howie" award for his contributions to Lovecraft cinema, and hopes to keep the horror cosmic—this year, Vanek ran the first H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival® in Los Angeles featuring six of the earliest and best films from the past decade and a half of the Portland fest. Read more
